Evaulation

I was asked to make a documentary, we were put into small groups of three and four, once we were in our group. We decided to plan, we drew a mind map of our idea and eventually came up with a storyboard. This would help us with the filming and editing process, as we would know what we needed and what goes where. Once the final idea was finalised, we set off filming each member of the group having a certain part to play, one as the camera worker, another as the interviewer and one as the interviewee. We tried to capture a professional Mise-en-scene

As you can see the attempt could have been better as the lighting was not right on the mise-en-scene. The background however did remind the audience that it was all about mobile phones from this we learnt that in our coursework, the framing for the shot is everything. We also failed to use the rule of thirds, and it does not comply with the codes and conventions. The codes and conventions stated that the audience do not see the interviewer, we followed this rule, as well as editing out the questions so it seems as though the person being interviewed did not need to be prompted.

Although we used cut aways we failed to use them correctly as the voice over stopped and the interview wasn't playing so it was just silent, with a quick flash on screen for the audience. This would look very bad in an actual documentary, as the cut aways are supposed to intrest the audience or demenstrate something, our cut aways did neither therefore failing to do it's job

In conclusion the documentary interview we made would not have worked well in a documentary or interested the audience but it helped us practice for when we do our courseworking, as it let us experiment and learn what would work well and what wouldn't. This is going to help me inprove, and i learnt how to do things and what not to do.

screen images of editing

This is the screen whilst we were editing, as you can see the window open we were choosing a transistion for our documentry. The tranistion allowed one shot to blend into another with having it jump and cut. It was for the continuity of the editing.

Task

Once we were given the task we were set into small groups of three. once in our groups, we planned then got the appropriate equipment.

Camera
Tripod
Voice recorder
wires to upload

each member was given a job, we took turns in editing, one was the camera controller, one was the interviewer, and another was an interviewee. I also took the job of minuplating images, i took pictures from google images and developed them in photo shop. here are both orginal and edited images.

For our mise-en-scene we chose a quiet classroom, with an interactive bored to we were able to use images as a background.
